CONGRATULATIONS  to our STHS photography students who took top honors in three different contests this year. Photographs are judged on their artistic merit and their artist statement essay. Two STHS students won first place awards for their photographs.

  • Life Spin by Maya Harvey won First Place in California Streaming AND National Scholastics for her photo of the TAP performance by Dance of Hope form Uganda. 

  • National Scholastics awarded Daniel Trejo First Place for his ENGAGEMENT PHOTO at Yosemite National Park with a graphic design.

  In the California State University contest, these students won the following awards:

  • Best of Show - Izzy Preston, titled INNER BEAUTY about positive body image and self-esteem.  Izzy is a senior. 

  • Second Place - Hannah Lucas, titled EXHAUSTION AND POWER, about her father and the dedication of fire fighters during the Paradise fire last year. Hannah is an early graduating junior who will be an exchange student to Chile next year. 
  • Honorable Mention - Alyx Carlson, titled WARRIORabout the Tahoe wildlife preserve and animal rehabilitation center.  Alyx is a senior.

And last, but not least, Alia Enriquez was awarded Honorable Mention for NOT ONE FORGOTTEN by the US Congressional Art Contest. Alia is a junior.
