Established in 2003, the Youth Commission is supported by the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors (BOS) and El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE). Appointed Commissioners are empowered to gather and express the opinions, ideas, and visions of our county’s youth, while gaining valuable leadership skills and knowledge about our county and local government.

To apply, students must be enrolled in grades 9-12, reside in El Dorado County, and be at least 13 years old.  Applications are available online at: https://charter.edcoe.org/resources/youthedcgov.us/Government/BOS, or directly HERE. Completed applications must be submitted via email by 11:59 pm on Thursday, September 10, 2020.

Students who have taken advantage of this opportunity in the past report that the skills they learned as Youth Commissioners help them in ways they didn’t expect. From interviewing for jobs, applying for scholarships, and feeling confident in challenging college classes, students praise the impact that the Youth Commission has made in their lives.
